High-Performance Absorber

PeroLab -
Small Material, Big Impact

Light-To-Heat Transformation

PeroLab, a nano scaled material with a diameter of 20-120 nm.
Applications:
  • Additive Manufacturing / 3D Printing
  • Laser Welding of Plastics and Textiles
  • Drying Processes (accelerator, e.g. for Paints and Coatings)
  • Light Filtration Systems (300-450 nm, 800-1200 nm)
  • Photothermal induced Reactions/Processes
Delivery forms:
  • Dispersions of PeroLab in water, alcohol or oil
  • PeroLab/Polymer (pellets, powder) composites
PeroLab is a non-toxic, green coloured material with a melting point of over 2000°C. The excellent property of converting light (300-450 nm, mainly: 800-1200 nm) into heat opens up a vast number of interesting applications, e.g. as an absorber for Additive Manufacturing, Laser Welding of Plastics and Textiles, Light Filtration Systems, Drying Processes (Paints and Coatings) and Security Marking.

"Tune the Colour of Printed Parts"

One requirement in the SLS (Selective Laser Sintering) process and in ink-based technologies is the generation of sufficient heat to sinter the polymer powder layer by layer using a near-infrared light source. Carbon-black is mostly used as absorber to generate heat. As a result, black parts are generated.
PeroLab can be also mixed into various polymer powders and used for the SLS process. In addition, it is possible to produce and use water-, alcohol- or oil-based PeroLab inks for ink-based printing technologies.

Now you can “Tune the Colour of Printed Parts”.

Laser Welding

Laser welding is a process for joining pieces, e.g. plastics or textiles using a laser beam. One component is laser transparent and the other one is a light absorbing material. Most plastics and textiles don’t show absorption properties in the emission wavelength range of the used laser. An absorber is needed. PeroLab is particularly suited as a highly efficient absorber and can be applied as liquid or as composites (e.g. thin films or filaments) using diverse polymers. Advantages of using PeroLab are: the generation of mostly transparent, clean and robust weld seams.
